Amerikan Deniz Piyadelerinin “şehadetname”lerinin aslını sunarken, “şehadetname” kelimesinin İngilizce karşılığının “yemin/oath” değil, “testimonial” olduğunu hatırlatır, “yemin” kelimesinin yorumun hiçbir yerinde geçmediğine dikkat buyurulmasını rica ederim. “Mezuniyet” kelimesinin özenle tırnak (“”) içine alınmış olmasının nedeni, “marine” adaylarının endoktirinasyon, dilerseniz “beyin yıkama” sürecinin – ifadesini söz konusu “testimonial”da bulan – sonucunu vurgulamak istemidir.
